What's in the box

30 single-use strips per pack. The 60 and 90 night options are two and three packs of 30.

How to use

Make sure the skin around your mouth is clean and dry. Peel off the backing, stretch the strip by 20 to 30%, close your lips and press it on so it surrounds them. In the morning, peel it off slowly from one corner.

Materials

Soft, hypoallergenic cotton with a gentler, skin-friendly acrylic adhesive. Latex-free.

Safety

MyoTape is not a treatment for sleep apnoea and does not replace CPAP or medical care. If you have been told you have sleep apnoea, speak to your doctor first.

Do not use it after drinking alcohol or taking sedatives, if you feel sick or may vomit, or if you cannot breathe comfortably through your nose. Stop using it if your skin becomes irritated.

Find your size

Size Your mouth width Usually fits Strip Lip opening
Small Under 47 mm Children from 4, older children 55 × 35 mm 35 × 11 mm
Medium 42 to 55 mm Teenagers and smaller faces 60 × 43.5 mm 36.5 × 14 mm
Large Over 50 mm Most men, about half of women 70 × 50 mm 40 × 16 mm

How to measure

  1. Stand in front of a mirror with a ruler.
  2. Relax your face and keep your lips closed, no smile.
  3. Measure from one corner of your mouth to the other.

The ranges overlap because faces differ and so does the tension people like. Unsure? Send us your measurement and we will tell you which size to order.

Why the opening

It surrounds your lips. It never seals them.

Most mouth tapes go across the lips. MyoTape goes around them. The elastic strip keeps your lips together while you sleep, so you breathe through your nose, and the open centre means your mouth is never taped shut.

  • Kinder on reactive skin

Same shape and opening as the original, with an adhesive that is easier on the skin.

  • Your mouth is never sealed

If you need to, you can still breathe out through the opening in the centre.

  • Talk, cough or sip water

No need to take it off in the middle of the night.

  • A reminder, not a restraint

Light elastic tension keeps the lips closed without the trapped feeling of tape across your mouth.

How to use

On in ten seconds

  1. 1Peel

Pull the two halves apart and peel off the paper backing.

  2. 2Stretch

Hold both ends and stretch the strip by 20 to 30%.

  3. 3Apply

Close your lips and press the strip on so it sits around them, not over them.

Good to know

  • Apply to clean, dry skin. Lip balm and moisturiser stop it from sticking.
  • Peel it off slowly in the morning, ideally after splashing a little warm water on it.
  • If it comes off in the first few nights, keep going. That is normal.
  • Use a new strip every night.

Questions

Before you order

How is the sensitive version different?

Same shape and the same open centre. The adhesive is gentler, for skin that reddens or feels irritated with the standard strip.

Which size should I choose?

Large fits most men and about half of women. Medium suits teenagers and smaller faces. Measure your mouth from corner to corner: over 50 mm is Large, 42 to 55 mm is Medium. The size guide on this page has every measurement.

Can I talk, cough or drink water with it on?

Yes. The opening in the middle means your mouth is never fully sealed, so you can talk, cough, sneeze or take a sip of water without taking it off.

The strip came off during the night. Is that normal?

It is common in the first few nights, especially if you have breathed through your mouth for years. Keep going: once your lips get used to staying closed, the strip usually stays on until morning. Check that your skin is clean and dry, with no lip balm or moisturiser around the mouth.

How long should I use it?

Breathing habits take time to change. We recommend wearing it every night for 60 to 90 nights.

Can I use a strip more than once?

No. Each strip is single use, for hygiene and so the adhesive holds properly.

Is MyoTape a treatment for sleep apnoea?

No. MyoTape supports nasal breathing during sleep and can help with snoring caused by mouth breathing. It is not a treatment for sleep apnoea and does not replace CPAP. If you have been diagnosed, or think you might have it, speak to your doctor before using mouth tape.

Who should not use it?

Do not use MyoTape after alcohol, drugs or sedative medication, if you feel sick or may vomit, or if you cannot breathe comfortably through your nose. It is not suitable for children under 4.
