What's in the box
30 single-use strips per pack, size Small. The 60 and 90 options are two and three packs of 30.
How to use
Start during the day, for 30 minutes to 2 hours while your child is calm and busy: reading, drawing, playing or watching TV. Clean and dry the skin, peel off the backing, stretch the strip by about 20%, ask your child to close their lips and press it on so it surrounds them.
Materials
Soft, hypoallergenic cotton with a skin-friendly acrylic adhesive. Latex-free.
Safety
Not suitable for children under 4. Only use it if your child can take the strip off on their own, and always with an adult present. Do not use it if your child has an upset stomach or may be sick.
Talk to your doctor before your child uses MyoTape during sleep.
Why the opening
It surrounds the lips. It never seals them.
Taping a child's mouth shut is not something any parent wants to do. MyoTape goes around the lips instead of across them. The light elastic tension reminds your child to keep their lips together, while the open centre means their mouth is never covered.
-
The mouth is never covered
Your child can still breathe out, talk or laugh through the opening.
-
Easy to take off
Children who can peel it off themselves stay in control, which makes the habit easier to accept.
-
Builds a habit, not a crutch
Short daily sessions train the lips to rest closed, so nasal breathing becomes the default.
-
Used by dentists and therapists
MyoTape is used alongside myofunctional therapy and orthodontic care for children.
How to use
A daily routine your child can manage
1Peel
Pull the two halves apart and peel off the paper backing.
2Stretch
Stretch the strip by about 20% and ask your child to close their lips.
3Apply
Press it on so it sits around the lips. Start with 30 minutes and build up.
For parents
- Begin during the day, while your child is busy with something they enjoy.
- An adult should apply it and stay nearby.
- Apply to clean, dry skin with no lip balm or cream.
- Use a new strip every time.
Sizing
Is Small the right size?
Small fits most children from 4. If your child's mouth is wider than 47 mm from corner to corner, Medium may fit better.
| Size | Your mouth width | Usually fits | Strip | Lip opening |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small | Under 47 mm | Children from 4, older children | 55 × 35 mm | 35 × 11 mm |
| Medium | 42 to 55 mm | Teenagers and smaller faces | 60 × 43.5 mm | 36.5 × 14 mm |
| Large | Over 50 mm | Most men, about half of women | 70 × 50 mm | 40 × 16 mm |
How to measure
- Stand in front of a mirror with a ruler.
- Relax your face and keep your lips closed, no smile.
- Measure from one corner of your mouth to the other.
The ranges overlap because faces differ and so does the tension people like. Unsure? Send us your measurement and we will tell you which size to order.
Where it comes from
Designed by breathing specialist Patrick McKeown

Questions
What parents ask us
From what age can my child use it?
From 4 years old. Your child should be able to take the strip off on their own, and an adult should always be there when it is used.
When should my child wear it?
Start during the day, for 30 minutes to 2 hours while your child is busy and calm: reading, drawing, playing or watching TV. MyoTape can also be used during sleep for children over 4, but please check with your doctor first.
My child's nose is often blocked. Can they still use it?
Breathing through the nose has to feel comfortable before the strip goes on. If your child's nose is often blocked, talk to your doctor, dentist or myofunctional therapist first.
How long until the habit changes?
Usually 60 to 90 days of regular use. Doing it every day matters more than long sessions.
What size is it?
Small, which fits children from 4 and older children. If your child's mouth is wider than 47 mm, Medium may fit better.
Can a strip be used more than once?
No. Each strip is single use, for hygiene and so the adhesive holds properly.
What is it made of?
Soft, hypoallergenic cotton with a skin-friendly acrylic adhesive. It is latex-free.
